I live in wisconsin and we are in mid going on to late winter. Would I be ok re-potting my ficus (ginseng) bonsai? The roots are starting to pop out of the soil and it’s getting harder to tell how moist the soil is. A few of the leaves on the lower part of the tree are turning yellow and dying, which didn’t happen in summer.
I have never re-potted a tree before, so if anyone wants to help me with the procedure, I would appreciate it. Right now it’s in a deeper pot (3″ deep) and the new bonsai pot is 2.5″. How much of the roots should I trim? I also heard I should leave it out of direct sunlight for a while afterwards.

I have a small Ginkgo biloba (maidenhair tree) that is in a large pot on my patio. It has been fine for years now until I transfered it to my house from my friend’s. A few weeks ago, some of the leaves have been turning brown. Is this normal? Should I leave them or take the brown ones off?
My friend had it in his backyard where theres only some sun. I now have it in the front of my house where the sun is the strongest during the day. Could it be that the sun has burnt the leaves?
Other than those few leaves, the tree does not seem to be in any distress.

take the brown leaves off and water it occasionally,put in half sun half shade. that should work.
