Question by Gihren: Would Yoshino Cherry Tree(Prunus x yedoensis), grow in Sacramento, CA (USDA Zone 9) which is listed as 5-8?
Sacramento is also known for city of trees.. if it means anything.

I think you could try a Yoshino. I would plant it on the north or east side of my house to protect it from the harsh western sun. Kwanzan cherry is another alternative, albeit pink in color. We live in Zone 7b (eastern North Carolina) and I sell Yoshino and Kwanzan Cherry trees. My main problem is insect damage from borers. Keep an eye on any sap running out of the tree and do not trim the tree in the Spring as this opens up wounds that insects can enter. Good Luck.
