Question by Taylor A: Where can I buy a Sabal Palmetto (Cabbage Palm) in Mississippi?
I really would like one! Is there a place close to Jackson that sells them? Please help!

Palmetto is such a common plant along the Gulf Coast that it should be widely available at most garden centers. It may not be out in front though so ask, and if it’s not in stock there’s a good chance it can be special ordered for you at no additional cost. Expect to pay from $ 5 to $ 10 for a one gallon plant.

SABAL PALMETTO, CABBAGE PALM cold hardy 50 seeds

  • fan shaped leaves

Patio tree, specimen plant, mass planting, or container plant. Indoors or outdoors. Selected for use where tropical effect is desired. Medium sized, spineless, evergreen palm. Un-branching trunk. Very large, fan-shaped leaves that form a circular crown. When young, gray-brown trunk is rough and covered with old boots of leaf stalks. These stalks fall away, revealing the trunk as the palm matures. Large clusters of inconspicuous flowers appear among the leaves when plants are mature.
