Question by apick: Will transplanting my Magnolia cause it to not flower?
My 5 ft Magnolia Grandiflora (Southern Charm) has at least one bud on it that is starting to ripen. Will planting the tree (it’s in a container) cause it not to blossom? And though I know Teddy Bear Magnolias can bloom young, how many blooms could I expect from this cultivar at the height of 5-6 feet?

Thanks so much!!! :)

Answer by cajundude1
If you can plant the tree without damaging the roots, it should bloom just as well, but it is unlikely that you won’t damage feeder roots, which will set if back. Wait until the Magnolia has finished blooming, then transplant it. Do a Google search on your plant. It will provide you with more details about blooming.
