Question by MAFIA: Can SIBERIAN ELM grow on undisturbed soil?
Im wondering can the Siberian elm (ulmus pumila) grow on soil that hasn’t been disturbed in any way form or fashion? Its hard to find that info on the internet so I was just wondering If anyone who reads this knows from personal experience. Now once again soil that hasn’t been disturbed by people or nature, Can the siberian elm grow on that soil. I know it will on disturbed but Its just the undisturbed soil Im wondering about. Thanks

Your question is disturbing!! Let me see if I understand you correctly. You are asking if a tree can grow without disturbing the soil??? A hole big enough to allow the roots to expand and to add compost is going to disturb the soil greatly. You stick the sapling into the hold, water it, replace the soil and watch it grow. This is the process for all trees. Do you have a problem with that? Face it, anyway you look at it your soil will be disturbed and the trees with love it.

Question by gorminolo: How to care for a Bonsai on a Balcony ( plants as well)?
I would like to know how to protect a bonsai ( ulmus parvifolia – chinese elm ) ( and some succulent plants ) from Wind , and i wish to know if they will survive from very strong gust of wind ? Also how can I protect them for winter , its very cold where I live.
They will be on a Balcony on the Third floor , all year round , i could try and bury the pots in a large park near my home when its near winter , but i may loose it , stolen ect
