Question by ericfromsouthpark: Albizia julibrissin (mimosa tree) infestation?
Im not exactly sure of the “type” of Albizia julibrissin i have in my yard but i’m leaning toward the “Ombrella” version. Very long slender stalks that grow up to 20-30 feet high if left alone. These things have taken over my property. Imagine two acres of these. They are almost impossible to get rid of as now it’s gotten so prolific i can’t clear the property fast enough and when i do they either regrow or drop more seeds and come back even denser. When do these things seed? how fast? how many times a season? What is the best method to clear out a large clump of them as i just can’t do it anymore. Will fire destroy their seeds? When should i act? Right now they are not flowering and basically are bare stalks. I basically have 2 acres of 30 ft stalks. Nothing i have ever done can get rid of them. Please help me. I can’t stand looking at these things another year and now they’re moving into the neighbors property. How can i kill these weed trees and reclaim my yard?

Question by John W: How do I get my Albizia julibrissin Summer Chocolate Mimosa to revert back to brown?
I cut my Mimosa back to the ground because all of the limbs were dead from winter. As the new limbs came back from the root stock, they all came back green except for one brown limb. It is now about 4 ft tall and I don’t have the brown leaves when I planted it two years ago. How do I fix this problem? Thanks
