Question by Christina: Best tree for a first time Bonzai?
I would like to try my hand at training a bonzai and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for my first tree. I live in an apartment so it would have to be something I could have indoors most of the year (I do have a small small small balcony). I am not a fan of ficus so that is out. Thanks!

Target sells a beginner kit, it includes the pot, soil and seeds.
This is if you want to start from the beginning. If not be sure to pick up and indoor bonsai because most love the sun. You can get them at Home Depot, Lowes or Pike Nurseries. Don’t trim them too much, they will go into shock. The biggest mistake most people make is over watering. It’s best to have a clay pot inside a dish so you just add the water to the dish and allow the plants roots to pull the water when it needs it.
